Breeding 3 Visable S Genes In 4th Generation

Step 1

First I made 4 pairs of starters, all double carriers:

1_2a.jpg1_2b.jpg Lake and Pond carry ZZ and fade.
1_3a.jpg1_3b.jpg Bay and Brook carry tips and ZZ.
1_3a.jpg1_3b.jpg Whirlpool and Stream, again, carry tips and fade.

It should be noted that I used the same color combo for all the starters: blue/cyan for hair, body and eye color, and red/magenta for hair extra. I wanted the colors to go together well and to still look nice on a 4th generation pony, which probably couldn't be accomplished if I chose colors that were too different from each other.

Step 2

I bred the starter pairs and waited for each of them to produce a double s-gene baby. This step took the longest, because not only the babies had to have two s-genes (the odds for that alone are only 1/16), but they had to have the right genders so I could breed them. Anyway, I finally ended up with the following two pairs:

Step 3

This step was pretty simple, since I only had to breed the two pairs until one of them had a girl and the other one a boy. I knew the baby from the first pair would have visible fade and carry tips and ZZ, and the one from the second pair would have visible tips and carry fade and ZZ (Guaranteed carriers). Here they are:

Step 4

I had to breed the pair until they produced a triple s-gene baby. Fortunately this didn't take long at all, and here's the final result:
